How to dismantle Toshiba Satellite A75

This guide will help you to dismantle and repair a Toshiba Satellite A75 laptop. If you experience an overheating problem, you can use the guide to clean up the cooling module and remove dust from the heatsink. Also you can use the guide if you want to remove and repair the system board and resolder the DC-IN jack.

Here are a few known issues with this model:
1. The heatsink easily gets clogged with dust and lint and because of that the laptop may overheat and shut down without any warning.

3. The top cover assembly might be improperly grounded and because of that the laptop freezes or shuts down when you touch the speakers or touchpad. In this case you'll have to replace or modify the top cover.

Replace Dell Latitude D630 screen hinge

Step 1:
You need to take out the plastic cover between keyboard and the hinges first.
Step 2:
Takeing out the LCD screen and disassemble it. Please notice dissemble the LCD screen is trivial — just take out all the rubber pad, unscrew everything, and take the cover out. Then you can take out the existing broken hinges and replace with the new ones.
It is actually not that hard when you open it up. The most difficult bit is probably unscrewing the screws on the screen as they are tiny (and lots of them). Once you opened them up, it would be obvious where things should go.

Step 3:
Getting Dell Latitude D630 hinge replaced is pretty trivial — basically just open up the cover of Latitude’s LCD monitor, take the old hinges out, and put the new ones back in. A few screws need to be unscrewed/screw back in along the process.

Now it is back to life again with the new hinges, so LCD screen no longer requires external support.

How to remove toshiba satellite A10 keyboard

On almost all Toshiba models, there is a removeable trim strip above or below the keyboard that "snaps" out ("snapping it out" is an art that you learn from experience, and it is quite possible to break the trim strip (plastic) if you don't do it right). Once this is removed, the eyboard either just lifts out, or is held by between 2 and 4 screws
that are obvious and under the trim strip. On the back of the keyboard is a part number, replacement keyboards are readily available, anywhere from $25 to $50. batter-adapter.com is a good source. The keyboard connects to the
laptop with a "flex cable" that goes into a "ZIF" (zero insertion force) socket. You MUST know how to work the ZIF socket, if you try to insert or remove the flex cable without "unlocking" the socket, you will ruin the cable (keyboard) or socket, or both. Unfortunately, there are about 5 styles of ZIF sockets used, All of this comes with training.

Toshiba Satellite 1400 keyboard replacement

Step 1: Orient the hinges
The two plastic hinge mechanisms must be oriented as shown to fit into the base of the keyboard
Step 2: Hook the hinge onto the base
Hook the plastic tab on one side of a hinge under the socket on the base of the keyboard. In this example, the bottom of the left hinge is being put into place first.
Step 3: Secure the hinge into place
Squeezing the other side of the hinge, tuck the remaining plastic tab into the base of the keyboard. You will probably need a tool to do this, like a pair of needle-nose pliers. Repeat steps two and three for the second hinge on the other side. To fit the key on easily, make sure both hinges are moved out from the center, all the way back into their sockets.
Step 4: Place the rubber spring piece
If your keyboard is missing the rubber spring piece, place it in the center of the hinge. It will be held in place by the surrounding key and hinge.
Step 5: Press the key into place
Align the key on top of its place on the keyboard, and press down evenly. All four corners of the key should click into place.

How to Use a Symbol When You Have a Laptop
1, Make sure you have a laptop that has those hidden numbers on some of your letter keys. (Usually a different color than white).
You could also have a separate regular keyboard instead of using the keyboard that is in your laptop.

2, Look for a key that matches the color of the hidden key-number.

3, Hold down this key, then start holding down the Alt key, then hold down the hidden key with the number 3 on it.

4, Congratulate yourself. You now have a heart!

5, Remember you can also go into your character map, a few utility in Windows, to find the symbol that you want, cut it, and paste it.

Try to hold down the keys all at the same time.
If you don't have a newer laptop, then you can type in & hearts ; but without the spaces.

Type Foreign Language Characters with an American Keyboard
1,Go to the Control Panel and click on Regional and Language Options.
2,Click the Language tab, and under text services, click "details".
This will open another window with the list of installed and available languages.
3,If you wish, remove the English US keyboard from the list. Highlight it in the list and click Remove.
Alternatively, you can have multiple keyboards installed at once. (For instance, the configuration shown includes Greek and Dvorak keyboards.) For multiple keyboards, you may select the default keyboard of your choice. You may also wish to define a keystroke to switch between the selected keyboards.
4,Click add.
5,Pick the first thing as English (USA). Click on the second one below it and find United States (International).
6,Click OK, and OK and you have it!
7,To use this keyboard, notice that it is similar, with a few differences. For example, when you push the [`] button (next to the one) it just makes a backtick [`]. However, if you press [`] and then a vowel (for example o) it will produce ò. Typing
[`] and [o] makes ò
['] and [o] makes ó
8,Find more options by pressing SHIFT:
The [~],[^], and ["] also function as accent keys.
[~] and [o] makes õ (~ is also used for Spanish ñ or Portuguese ã)
[^] and [o] makes ô
["] and [o] makes ö
9,Learn to use Alt-Gr. On this keyboard layout, Alt-Gr this takes the place of the Alt key on the right side. Alt is short for "alternative". Press it to get the following keyboard layout:
10,Optional: If you still want to do other unicode characters like Å£, ÅŸ, ă, Ä…, Å‚, or ☏, ☼, ♂, etc. Install the free software JLG Extended Keyboard Layout then redo the steps above, except that instead of choosing the US International keyboard layout, you choose the US (JLGv11) keyboard. More than 1000 unicode character are made available in this layer.

Note:Some languages still don't have very good software support. Asian languages and Indian languages typically require certain fonts to be installed.
Right-to-left languages, such as Hebrew and Arabic, may display poorly in some circumstances, and may not coexist well in the same page or document as left-to-right languages.

As you can see, this keyboard layout incorporates most letters used for west European languages, including French, Spanish, German, Danish, Old English, Swedish, Portuguese, and others. You can also type world Currency symbols like Euro (€), Yen (¥), and the generic World currency symbol (¤).
These accent adder button things are quite useful, but remember if you want to type just a ["] you will have to press the space bar after it so it is not combined with the next letter (example "At" vs. Ät").
If you are missing other keys you will need to learn the alt+ code for the letter(s), buy a foreign keyboard, or download the Microsoft custom keyboard layout maker from the developers site. To use an alt code, hold down Alt while typing a number. For instance, Alt+165 produces ñ.
If you want to type in a language that is composed of all non-English characters, such as Greek or Russian, it is best to install that keyboard and, if you wish, choose a keystroke to switch between English and that other language.

Pop a Key Back Onto a Dell Laptop Keyboard
1, Start with all the pieces. Examine them carefully. Note where the tiny tabs are on them. Arrange them correctly according to the diagram.
2, Note the orientations of the tabs on the U-shaped piece, and slip the tabs under the metal loops on the laptop.
3, Slip the second O-shaped piece through the centre of the U-piece.
4, Hook the tabs on the O-piece under the hooks on the laptop.
5, Click the tabs in the O-piece into the notches in the U-piece.
6, At this point, the two pieces are gently locked together. If done correctly, they will not sit flat. They will be raised slightly above the laptop surface.
7, Place the key right side up over the U and O pieces.
8, Click it into place.
9, Voila! The key is replaced.

It may be easier to remove the base U-shaped piece from the keyboard in order to attach the O-shaped piece (or attach the pieces together before replacing to keyboard)
You might want to turn your computer off while doing this to avoid causing errors in your open applications.
Make sure you ground your self by placing one hand on the metal part of the notebook
If you break any of the plastic parts on an often used key, you can harvest spare parts from a seldom used key. Just be very careful when taking the key's plastic parts off
For a Latitude D800 this works slightly different. Best tip is to carefully remove another key as well and peek how to do it.
If you are trying to put the spacebar on your dell laptop, there is also a long U shaped metal wire. Two ends of the wire go into their slots, and then you can pop back the spacebar key on top of the frames (i.e. the two set of frames for the spacebar)

It's all too easy to pop the keys off a laptop, and almost impossible to get them back on without losing or destroying the nigh-microscopic parts. This is a step-by-step diagram of how to put the keys back together on a Dell 4150 Inspiron, but the principles should work on other Dell laptops; these steps with HP Pavilion notebooks as well.

Note:Make sure that you don't scratch the board underneath the key on some models.
Doing this may void your warranty.

How to Select a Laptop Bag to Travel With
1, Decide on the type of laptop. The options available are metallic cases, backpacks, messenger bags, totes, briefcases and sleeves.
2, Research on the various materials available for the particular type of bag you choose. Corduroy, koskin, vinyl and suede are some of the popular materials. Go for a lightweight, waterproof, good-looking and easy-to-maintain material.
3, Ensure that good quality padding is in place. Good quality padding provides better safety to the laptop.
4, Give a discerning look at the seams to ascertain the quality of stitching. That is the area taking up maximum load. Good stitching at the seams contributes to the life of your bag.
5, Look for good quality zippers and other fastening attachments. The better the locking facility, the more secure is the laptop.
6, Look for a spacious interior so that it can accommodate both the notebook and other accessories, such as an extra battery, chargers, cables etc.
7, Look for external pockets. External pockets are a great addition to your laptop bag. Just think of the advantages if you have space for your mobile or iPod in the bag.
8, Make sure your notebook has more than one holding option. For example, a briefcase type handle, shoulder straps, messenger bag type strap and, if possible, telescopic handles along with wheels are some of the holding options you should look for.
9, Pick a color that you love. This will contribute to the "belongingness" you develop for your laptop bag.
10, Make sure that you get the best value for money. Compare prices and features and then buy.

Carrying a laptop is a necessity for professionals who fly frequently. So the safety and comfort of the laptop is of prime importance to you if you belong to that category. Since the laptop bag is a part of the trip, it makes sense to choose one that is made for your needs. Let's help you choose one.

Note:Do not get carried away by a particular brand. Test a few models from different brands before selecting.

Make Your Laptop Last Longer

Laptop accessories of lcd inverter :Pavilion ZV5000 Series, Pavilion ZV5100 Series, Pavilion ZV5200 Series, Notebook 500 Series, Notebook 510 Series, Notebook 520 Series
How to Make Your Laptop Last Longer
1, Purchase a luggage tag to attach to the carrying case with your name in it (no flap that covers the name).
2, Attach something unique to the carrying case (to prevent someone else from mistaking your case for theirs).
3, Label all parts of the laptop with your name and put a sticky address label on the top of the laptop, inside, under the keyboard, both parts of the power cord, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/Floppy drives, and a USB drive.
4, Safety and Care
Be cautious about leaving the laptop unattended anywhere that there is a chance it could easily be knocked onto the floor, sat on, or stepped on.
Know that dropping, jostling, or bumping will cause damage to the hard drive (if the computer is turned on).
Do not place drinks next to the computer. One accidental spill onto the keyboard will damage it, probably beyond repair.
Always hold the laptop by the bottom (keyboard half), never the screen. Use two hands.
Correctly remove the wireless card (if applicable) before transporting.
Do not store the laptop where very cold or very hot.
Do not place the laptop close to any electrical appliance, because it generates a magnetic field.

Never twist the screen on its hinges (it could crack the screen.)
Do not ever scratch or push on the screen.
Never close the lid when a pencil or pen is left on the keyboard (it could crack the screen.)

Do not wrap the cord tightly around itself. Instead, loosely wrap it in a figure eight pattern.
Never turn the laptop over when it is plugged in. This could break the adapter plug at the back of the laptop.
7, Disks
Be careful when removing disks from drives. Small pieces are easy to snap off if you are not careful.
Do not use damaged floppy disks!
Remove disks from CD-ROM drive or floppy drive before carrying.
8, Software related
Downloaded software and screensavers often cause conflicts and use valuable memory. Remember that the laptop is a tool for learning and keeping it free of extras will keep it working quicker with less freezing.
Always back up all files in at least two places.
Virus protection is very important.
Beware of Spyware. It is the latest computer security problem. Spyware is software designed to collect computer users' personal data without their knowledge. Spyware is secretly installed with many downloaded Internet software programs, and transmits information about computer usage and generates pop-up advertisements. Microsoft estimates that spyware is responsible for half of all PC crashes.
9, Routine Laptop Maintenance
Run Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter at least monthly. You can find this under "Accessories," listed with Programs. Start > Programs > Accessories. Be sure to turn off screen saver before performing maintenance.
Check for disk errors at least monthly. Open "My Computer." Right click on drive C, then select Properties. Click on the Tools tab. Where you see Error Checking, click on "Check now." Select "automatically fix file system errors," and then Start. You may be prompted to restart the machine.
Set virus protection software to download and install updates automatically and enable virus realtime protection.
Perform weekly virus scans.
Set your computer to automatically download any newly released Windows updates. How to Fix a Keyboard That Has the Wrong Characters
1, Open up the Control Panel. This can be done by either pressing win+r and typing "control" (without quotes) or going to My Computer and clicking "Control Panel" in the Other Places area on the left.
2, Look for "Regional and Language Options." The categories are alphabetized, so finding it shouldn't be hard. Once you find it, double-click on it. A window should come up with the tabs "Regional Options," "Language Options," and "Advanced" at the top.
3, Look in the "Regional Options" tab, you should find a pull down menu, some "samples," and another pull down menu. Make sure that both menus are set to your region's settings.
4, Click on the "Customize" button next to the first pull down menu. Sometimes these settings can interfere with your keyboard.
5, Make sure that, at the bottom of the "Customize" dialogue, your measurement system is set to whatever system your region uses. Once that tab in "Customize" is all set, move over to "Currency," "Time," and "Date," making sure that their settings are correct.
6, Click "Apply" for both the Customize window and the Regional and Language Settings window.
7, Test out the keys using a word processing program such as Notepad or MS Word. If the problem persists, it may be a hardware issue.

If the above steps didn't work, then your keyboard may be broken.

Laptop Stand with Room for Accessories

Quick Laptop Stand with Room for Accessories
step 1 Prepare the Frame
The first step is to create a frame to set the laptop on.

This step requires the most planning. You must first plan out what you are going to put in the base and then determine the appropriate sizes for the pieces of wood. Remember that you should subtract two times the thickness of the wood from the length of the two sides that will be inside so that the frame is not too large. Then you should measure twice and cut once.

I used the dremel sanding bit to sand some of the frame, especially the end, and also sanded by hand in some areas.

Next you should mark where wires are to run and use the dremel to cut grooves so that the wires can pass from one section to another, or outside of the frame.

Finally, I used the dremel to drill pilot holes and screw the frame together.

I specifically used 5/8" square wooden rods to construct the frame. Due to my lack of a power saw I used a hand saw which took longer but worked just fine. I choose to not have the usb ports exposed because I wanted to stick as much with the square frame as I could to ensure durability.

step 2 Attach a Base
Next you need to place a hard bottom on the frame. I choose cardboard since it was free and easy to cut. I basically just taped it to the frame really well and then covered it in tape on the inside to make it uniform and well insulated against electronics. I used gaffer's tape but that is most likely overkill and duct tape should work just as well for this step.

step 3 Cover the Base
Next I attached cloth to the base to cover the outside. I cut a piece of cloth approximately the right size and began with one side attaching it. I used thumb tacks to attach the cloth on the inside of the base then pulled it tight around the underside and attached it to the opposite side. The wood was rather hard for a thumb tack so I enlisted the aid of a hammer, at times using a scrap of the 5/8" wood as a nail set. I then cut off the excess cloth and taped the edges of the cloth.

step 4 Place Components
Finally, you should place the electronic components inside of the frame. I used gaffer's tape to tape down the wires and multicard reader as well as the hub. I also used the tape to tape down the wires leading out of the frame to insure that they would not come out of the grooves cut for them. This tape is all seen as temporary and removable which is why, in this instance, gaffer's tape is important since it leaves no residue. This way all of the component can be removed again and still used independently. If you do not have gaffer's tape my next choice would be masking tape.

step 5 Optional Additions
I also did several other things. I used cardboard, tape, and more cloth to make both a lid and cover for the laptop's keyboard.

I made a cover for the laptop's keyboard to have something nicer than a folded piece of paper to keep me from looking at the keys on the laptop's keyboard. (As you can see from the external keyboard I have painted over the letters to help me improve my typing speed and finally learn those symbols on the number keys.)

I made a lid which I thought I would set the laptop on. I decided that it looked better just setting the laptop on the bottom piece without a lid, but kept the lid around in case I want to have something to place over the frame when the laptop is not on it. You can see a small dent on the cover because I cut holes in the cardboard for the cover to improve ventilation should I set the laptop on it. If you do not need access to the inside of the base you could simply stretch bare cloth across the top and use thumb tacks to attach it, thus maximizing airflow.

Additionally, I have left space in the case should I decide to add a few small fans to improve cooling of the rather hot Macbook Pro. Designing the specifics of such a system is left as an exercise to the reader.

Lastly, I did add small rubber feet to the bottom of the stand to keep it from sliding on the table. Whether or not this will be important to you depends on your use and surface.

step 6 Use It
Set the laptop on top and you're done. Now you can sit back, relax, and have to look at a few less cords. Plus, I have easier access to my optical drive. And, despite being made out of mostly cardboard and tape, the stand is still fairly sturdy due to the good frame.

How to Sit at a Computer
1, Push your hips as far back as they can go in the chair. Adjust the seat height so that your feet are flat on the floor and your knees equal to, or slightly lower than, your hips. Adjust the back of the chair to a 100°-110° reclined angle. Make sure that your upper and lower back are supported. If necessary, use inflatable cushions or small pillows. When your chair has an active back mechanism use it to make frequent position changes. Adjust the armrests so that your shoulders are relaxed, and remove them completely if you find that they are in your way.

2, Sit close to your keyboard and position it so that it is directly in front of your body. Make sure that the keys are centered with your body.

3, Adjust the keyboard height so that your shoulders are relaxed, your elbows are in a slightly open position, and your wrists and hands are straight.

4, Understand that the tilt of your keyboard depends upon your sitting position. Use the keyboard tray mechanism, or keyboard feet, to adjust the tilt. If you sit in a forward or upright position, try tilting your keyboard away from you, but if you are slightly reclined, then a slight forward tilt will help to maintain a straight wrist position.

5,Use wrist rests to help maintain neutral postures and pad hard surfaces. The wrist rest should only be used to rest the palms of the hands between keystrokes and not while typing. Place the pointer as close as possible to the keyboard. Placing it on a slightly inclined surface, or using it on a mouse bridge placed over the 10-keypad, can help to bring it closer. position.

6, Understand that incorrect positioning of the screen and source documents can result in awkward postures. Adjust the monitor and source documents so that your neck is in a neutral, relaxed position. Center the monitor directly in front of you, above your keyboard.Position the top of the monitor approximately 2-3” above your seated eye level. If you wear bifocals, lower the monitor to a comfortable reading level.

7,Sit at least an arm's length away from the screen and adjust the distance for your vision. Reduce any glare by carefully positioning the screen, which you should be looking almost straight at, but partially looking down. Adjust any curtains or blinds as needed. Adjust the vertical screen angle and screen controls to minimize glare from overhead lights.

8, Position the source documents directly in front of you, and use an in-line copy stand. If there is insufficient space then place the documents on a document holder positioned adjacent to the monitor. Place your telephone within easy reach. Use headsets and a speaker phone to eliminate cradling the handset.

Note:
Use good work habits once you have correctly set up your computer workstation. No matter how perfect the environment, prolonged, static postures will inhibit blood circulation and take a toll on your body.
You may get stiff bones if you are sitting in front of a computer too long.

5100 battery for NOKIA mobile phone

How to Unlock Nokia Cell Phone
1, Before trying anything else, contact your service provider and ask for an unlock code. Usually, if you've been a customer of theirs for some time, they will provide you with an unlock code for free. This is, by far, the best way to get your phone unlocked.
2, Download software to generate the unlocking code. Software is available on some websites for free and some pay websites that also offer support if things go wrong. See external links below.
3, Find the Serial number of the cell phone, also known as your IMEI number. This can be done by either removing the back of your cell phone and looking underneath the battery, or simply by typing in *#06# into your cell phone. It should be something like: 010082321439976/07951780736
4, Using the software you have downloaded, enter in your Manufacturer (which is in this case Nokia), and sliding the card out. Put the battery back in and power the phone on.
5, You will see a message "Insert SIM Card". Enter all of the characters you see in your code, including the # symbols. To get a 'p' press * 3 times, to get a '+' press the * key 2 times, to get a 'w' press the * key 4 times. Disregard any spaces in the code.
6, In order to unlock your phone you generally need to enter only one code. Start with the first one. If your phone is not unlocked by typing the first code (MCC+MNC), use code "7" (Multilock)
7, Once you have finished entering a code that works you should see a message that says "SIM is not restricted" or "Restriction off" message depending on your model. If not, try entering another code. Message "Cannot undo restrictions" means the phone is "hard-locked" and cannot be unlocked by code.

Unlocking applies to all cellular phones. The steps provided above work for GSM phones. You CANNOT use the steps above to unlock a CDMA or TDMA phone. To "unlock" a CDMA or TDMA phones is known as reprogramming the phone. For CDMA phones, you need the Master Subsidary Lock or MSL, which you MAY be able to get from your service provider. Please note that you may not be able to get the MSL from your service provider, as it usually is against company policy to give these to customers.

Warnings
Attempting to unlock your phone is done at your own risk. Although unlocking your phone is legal, some cell phone operators might choose to void your warranty should you unlock your phone (then again, some cell phone operators won't mind).
Most phones only allow you to try a certain number of unlock tries, Nokia phones have a limit of 5 tries. After that, the phone becomes "hard-locked", meaning it cannot be unlocked without using special equipment.
Most of the newer phones will not work with the codes generated by the free unlock programs.

How to Clean Battery Corrosion and Build Up
Steps
Check for the corrosion and follow the corresponding directions.
Mild corrosion: On the traditional shiny terminals, this usually shows up as a dark dull spot.
Build up: In extreme cases, you may see a crusty build-up. If the build-up is significant, the solution is a bit more tricky.
Mild Corrosion
1,Gather the required materials.
2,Lightly soak your applicator in vinegar.
3,Gently swab at the terminal. Don't be alarmed if there's a fizzing reaction. That's perfectly natural.
4,Rub with a bit more vigor if the corrosion doesn't seem to be going away. If that still doesn't remove the corrosion, you can gently rub the area with fine sand-paper to remove the corroded bits before trying the vinegar again.
5,Enjoy the return of life to your batteries. And remember to remove them before putting your camera away next time.
Build Up
1,Gather the required materials.
2,Do not touch the white crusty build-up with your bare skin! That's battery acid which has leaked from the battery and it can burn your skin.
If you do touch it, be sure to rinse your hands off thoroughly with warm soapy water before getting them close to your eyes or any mucous membranes. Let the water run vigorously because the acid will likely become active as it's hydrated. Fast-running water will help rinse it off before it starts to burn you.
3,Try removing the battery case and soaking it in water or a dilute solution of baking soda (best case scenario).
4,Gently scrub the build-up off with a moistened towel while wearing rubber gloves. Remove as much as you can in this manner.
5,Use a dilute solution of baking soda on a towel to remove the rest. You will almost definitely get hissing and fizzing, as well as the creation of salt and water. If the battery casing is not waterproof (it generally isn't), you may want to perform this step over a sink with the battery case facing down so that any generated water or salt will drip out.
6,Swab the inside with a dampened lint-free cloth. Distilled water is better in the long run to prevent build-up, but tap water won't cause significant problems in this situation.
7,Gently dry the terminals with another lint-free cloth. Ensure that everything is dry before putting the batteries in. If necessary, leave the camera sitting out overnight to let any remaining water get out.
Note
1,Battery acid is caustic! Any powdery build-up should be treated as crystallized acid and cleaned with proper hand and eye protection, although gloves and not cleaning too vigorously will get you through in most situations.
If any acid gets into your eyes and mucous membranes (yes, that includes your nose), immediately get the affected body part under the faucet and turn it on to flush away the acid!
2,Using the baking soda will create water and salt. Either of those can cause a short circuit if left in the battery compartment or if it leaks in. Be sure to dry the device thoroughly. Do not immerse it unless you can detach the battery case entirely from the rest of the device. If any of the baking soda/vinegar mixture gets into the device, you're probably best off opening the device and cleaning it off, or taking the device to a professional.
3,As with anything involving monkeying around delicate circuitry with water, acids, and bases, this may cause damage to the device. But with careful cleaning and proper caution, the risk is fairly low.
