How to dismantle Toshiba Satellite A75

This guide will help you to dismantle and repair a Toshiba Satellite A75 laptop. If you experience an overheating problem, you can use the guide to clean up the cooling module and remove dust from the heatsink. Also you can use the guide if you want to remove and repair the system board and resolder the DC-IN jack.

Here are a few known issues with this model:
1. The heatsink easily gets clogged with dust and lint and because of that the laptop may overheat and shut down without any warning.
2. Overtime the power jack might loose connection with the motherboard and because of that the laptop stops charging the battery or switches between the AC and battery power on its own. To fix the problem you'll have to resolder or replace the power jack.
3. The top cover assembly might be improperly grounded and because of that the laptop freezes or shuts down when you touch the speakers or touchpad. In this case you'll have to replace or modify the top cover.

Replace Dell Latitude D630 screen hinge

Step 1:
You need to take out the plastic cover between keyboard and the hinges first.
Step 2:
Takeing out the LCD screen and disassemble it. Please notice dissemble the LCD screen is trivial — just take out all the rubber pad, unscrew everything, and take the cover out. Then you can take out the existing broken hinges and replace with the new ones.
It is actually not that hard when you open it up. The most difficult bit is probably unscrewing the screws on the screen as they are tiny (and lots of them). Once you opened them up, it would be obvious where things should go.

Step 3:
Getting Dell Latitude D630 hinge replaced is pretty trivial — basically just open up the cover of Latitude’s LCD monitor, take the old hinges out, and put the new ones back in. A few screws need to be unscrewed/screw back in along the process.

Now it is back to life again with the new hinges, so LCD screen no longer requires external support.

How to remove toshiba satellite A10 keyboard

On almost all Toshiba models, there is a removeable trim strip above or below the keyboard that "snaps" out ("snapping it out" is an art that you learn from experience, and it is quite possible to break the trim strip (plastic) if you don't do it right). Once this is removed, the eyboard either just lifts out, or is held by between 2 and 4 screws
that are obvious and under the trim strip. On the back of the keyboard is a part number, replacement keyboards are readily available, anywhere from $25 to $50. batter-adapter.com is a good source. The keyboard connects to the
laptop with a "flex cable" that goes into a "ZIF" (zero insertion force) socket. You MUST know how to work the ZIF socket, if you try to insert or remove the flex cable without "unlocking" the socket, you will ruin the cable (keyboard) or socket, or both. Unfortunately, there are about 5 styles of ZIF sockets used, All of this comes with training.
