1. Turn off you HP Pavilion dv6 notebook. Unplug the power cable and disconnect any external devices plugged into the notebook. Lift up the notebook and place it upside-down on a flat surface with the battery next to you.

2. Push the battery-release latch above the left side of the battery to the right to disengage it from the notebook. Remove the battery. Remove the three screws along the bottom of the battery bay using a Phillips-head screwdriver.

3. Loosen but do not remove the four screws on the outer edge of the base cover above the left side of the battery bay. Remove the cover.

4. Disconnect the hard drive cable extending from the left side of the hard drive, located in the upper-left corner of the bay, from the notebook. Slide the hard drive bracket to the left edge of the hard drive bay. Lift and remove the bracket.

5. Remove the screw below the lower-right side of the hard drive bay, and remove the screw in the lower-right corner of the base cover bay. Grab the optical drive on the upper-right edge of the laptop and pull it out of the HP Pavilion dv6 notebook.

6. Lift the HP Pavilion dv6 notebook and set it down right-side up. Open the display.

7. Lift the back of the keyboard and slide it back 1 inch toward the monitor. The keyboard ribbon cable that plugs into the notebook just above the mouse touch pad will be visible. Lift the black plastic connector about one-quarter of an inch and carefully pull the ribbon cable out and remove the old keyboard.

8. Reverse the procedure to replace the HP Pavilion DV6 Keyboard.

Step 1:

You need to take out the plastic cover between keyboard and the hinges first.

Step 2:

Takeing out the LCD screen and disassemble it. Please notice dissemble the LCD screen is trivial — just take out all the rubber pad, unscrew everything, and take the cover out. Then you can take out the existing broken hinges and replace with the new ones.

It is actually not that hard when you open it up. The most difficult bit is probably unscrewing the screws on the screen as they are tiny (and lots of them). Once you opened them up, it would be obvious where things should go.

Step 3:

Getting Dell Latitude D630 hinge replaced is pretty trivial — basically just open up the cover of Latitude’s LCD monitor, take the old hinges out, and put the new ones back in. A few screws need to be unscrewed/screw back in along the process.

Replaceing a K09 hinge Keyboard Key for a Toshiba Satellite 1400

Step 1: Orient the hinges
The two plastic hinge mechanisms must be oriented as shown to fit into the base of the keyboard

Step 2: Hook the hinge onto the base
Hook the plastic tab on one side of a hinge under the socket on the base of the keyboard. In this example, the bottom of the left hinge is being put into place first.

Step 3: Secure the hinge into place
Squeezing the other side of the hinge, tuck the remaining plastic tab into the base of the keyboard. You will probably need a tool to do this, like a pair of needle-nose pliers. Repeat steps two and three for the second hinge on the other side. To fit the key on easily, make sure both hinges are moved out from the center, all the way back into their sockets.

Step 4: Place the rubber spring piece
If your keyboard is missing the rubber spring piece, place it in the center of the hinge. It will be held in place by the surrounding key and hinge.

Step 5: Press the key into place
Align the key on top of its place on the keyboard, and press down evenly. All four corners of the key should click into place.

Pop a Key Back Onto a Dell Laptop Keyboard
1, Start with all the pieces. Examine them carefully. Note where the tiny tabs are on them. Arrange them correctly according to the diagram.
2, Note the orientations of the tabs on the U-shaped piece, and slip the tabs under the metal loops on the laptop.
3, Slip the second O-shaped piece through the centre of the U-piece.
4, Hook the tabs on the O-piece under the hooks on the laptop.
5, Click the tabs in the O-piece into the notches in the U-piece.
6, At this point, the two pieces are gently locked together. If done correctly, they will not sit flat. They will be raised slightly above the laptop surface.
7, Place the key right side up over the U and O pieces.
8, Click it into place.
9, Voila! The key is replaced.

It may be easier to remove the base U-shaped piece from the keyboard in order to attach the O-shaped piece (or attach the pieces together before replacing to keyboard)

If you are trying to put the spacebar on your dell laptop, there is also a long U shaped metal wire. Two ends of the wire go into their slots, and then you can pop back the spacebar key on top of the frames (i.e. the two set of frames for the spacebar)

It's all too easy to pop the keys off a laptop, and almost impossible to get them back on without losing or destroying the nigh-microscopic parts. How to Fix a Keyboard That Has the Wrong Characters
1, Open up the Control Panel. This can be done by either pressing win+r and typing "control" (without quotes) or going to My Computer and clicking "Control Panel" in the Other Places area on the left.

step 1 Prepare the Frame
The first step is to create a frame to set the laptop on.

This step requires the most planning. You must first plan out what you are going to put in the base and then determine the appropriate sizes for the pieces of wood. Remember that you should subtract two times the thickness of the wood from the length of the two sides that will be inside so that the frame is not too large. Then you should measure twice and cut once.

I used the dremel sanding bit to sand some of the frame, especially the end, and also sanded by hand in some areas.

Next you should mark where wires are to run and use the dremel to cut grooves so that the wires can pass from one section to another, or outside of the frame.

Finally, I used the dremel to drill pilot holes and screw the frame together.

I specifically used 5/8" square wooden rods to construct the frame. Due to my lack of a power saw I used a hand saw which took longer but worked just fine. I choose to not have the usb ports exposed because I wanted to stick as much with the square frame as I could to ensure durability.

step 2 Attach a Base
Next you need to place a hard bottom on the frame. I choose cardboard since it was free and easy to cut. I basically just taped it to the frame really well and then covered it in tape on the inside to make it uniform and well insulated against electronics. I used gaffer's tape but that is most likely overkill and duct tape should work just as well for this step.

step 3 Cover the Base
Next I attached cloth to the base to cover the outside. I cut a piece of cloth approximately the right size and began with one side attaching it. I used thumb tacks to attach the cloth on the inside of the base then pulled it tight around the underside and attached it to the opposite side. The wood was rather hard for a thumb tack so I enlisted the aid of a hammer, at times using a scrap of the 5/8" wood as a nail set. I then cut off the excess cloth and taped the edges of the cloth.

step 4 Place Components
Finally, you should place the electronic components inside of the frame. I used gaffer's tape to tape down the wires and multicard reader as well as the hub. I also used the tape to tape down the wires leading out of the frame to insure that they would not come out of the grooves cut for them. This tape is all seen as temporary and removable which is why, in this instance, gaffer's tape is important since it leaves no residue. This way all of the component can be removed again and still used independently. If you do not have gaffer's tape my next choice would be masking tape.

step 5 Optional Additions
I also did several other things. I used cardboard, tape, and more cloth to make both a lid and cover for the laptop's keyboard.

I made a cover for the laptop's keyboard to have something nicer than a folded piece of paper to keep me from looking at the keys on the laptop's keyboard. (As you can see from the external keyboard I have painted over the letters to help me improve my typing speed and finally learn those symbols on the number keys.)

I made a lid which I thought I would set the laptop on. I decided that it looked better just setting the laptop on the bottom piece without a lid, but kept the lid around in case I want to have something to place over the frame when the laptop is not on it. You can see a small dent on the cover because I cut holes in the cardboard for the cover to improve ventilation should I set the laptop on it. If you do not need access to the inside of the base you could simply stretch bare cloth across the top and use thumb tacks to attach it, thus maximizing airflow.

Additionally, I have left space in the case should I decide to add a few small fans to improve cooling of the rather hot Macbook Pro. Designing the specifics of such a system is left as an exercise to the reader.

Lastly, I did add small rubber feet to the bottom of the stand to keep it from sliding on the table. Whether or not this will be important to you depends on your use and surface.

step 6 Use It
Set the laptop on top and you're done. Now you can sit back, relax, and have to look at a few less cords. Plus, I have easier access to my optical drive. And, despite being made out of mostly cardboard and tape, the stand is still fairly sturdy due to the good frame.

How to Sit at a Computer
1, Push your hips as far back as they can go in the chair. Adjust the seat height so that your feet are flat on the floor and your knees equal to, or slightly lower than, your hips. How to Clean Battery Corrosion and Build Up

Let the water run vigorously because the acid will likely become active as it's hydrated. Fast-running water will help rinse it off before it starts to burn you.

4,Gently scrub the build-up off with a moistened towel while wearing rubber gloves. Remove as much as you can in this manner.

How to type
1,Decide on what kind of keyboard you want to use.
Most of the time, you'll come across a traditional QWERTY keyboard, but there's also the option of switching to a Dvorak keyboard. The standard QWERTY keyboard layout was designed to prevent typewriter jams (which is no longer necessary with computers), whereas the Dvorak layout was designed specifically to be easy on the hands. You shouldn't have to move your fingers from their positions, just press the keys that they are resting on.

Alternate Method Clean a Keyboard
1,Switch off the machine and disconnect the keyboard.
2,Turn the keyboard upside down and remove all the screws.
3,Lift the top half of the keyboard off and put the bottom half to one side.
There may be some clips on the keyboard, also, check for screws hidden under labels.
4,Turn the top half around so that you can see the backs of the keys, squeeze the 5,tabs on each key to remove it, the space-bar will have a metal rod, this may be a pain to refit, but is not impossible.
Fill a bowl with hot soapy water (Fairy Liquid works well)

Take you screen turn it over and unscrew all the back screws. then carefully take of the back plastic panel, it is usually gripped on very well, so i would recommend taking two flat screwdrivers and slowly prying it open.
step 2 Underneath the plastic panel
Most LCD screens are very similar, but some have the inverters beneath a safety metal panel and some have them on the bottom lower part of the LCD.
step 3 Remove the inverter
This is the most dangerous part of the whole operation, be CAREFUL!
Take of the power connectors from the inverter, unscrew the inverter from the metal panel and place it in a safety Ziploc bag.
Caution: The inverter has literally thousands of volts inside it and if you touch the wrong part you are toast.

You can get thumb screws in nearly any size, but squashing the head of a screw in a vise to make your own is so much more fun (see photo 2).
step 4 Prepare your work area
For this practice run I used hot glue....the final hack will use A/B epoxy or similar adhesive.
step 5 Scuff surface
Scuffing the surface helps glue/epoxy adhere. It gives it something to "stick" to.
step 6 Glue base to laptop body
This part is easy- you glue the base of the lid support to the furthest point closest to the old hinge....meaning as far "back" as possible. Don't forget to allow for clearance of the little pivot point that holds the arm and base together....too far in and the lid won't close. Notice it is a bit off to the right?
step 7 Glue slider to lid
This is a bit tricky....you probably want to be closer-than-center to the hinge end of the laptop. This will allow for the the lid to be open or closed in the most amount variable positions. You don't want to be too far one way or the other, but I found that one width of the slider towards the lid hinge from center of the lid is optimal.
step 8 Re-assemble screw/slider
Once the slider is fixed to the lid, reassemble the "thumb" screw and lockback (a metal washer would work too) Use the thumb screw to loosen or tighten as needed for positions. Notice the luxurious brassness? That's high class.
step 9 Final thoughts.
I am going to use better adhesive as stated in previous step. Hot glue doesn't cut it as a permanent fix. Although it worked great to test the hack. I am sure A/B epoxy or "JB Weld" will work MUCH better. Maybe even small screws, but I am afraid to start screwing into my laptop.

Clean a keyboard
step 1 What you need
You will need:
a keyboard
Rubbing alcohol
Cotton swabs
Something to rub the gunk onto. I used some toilet paper.
A flathead screwdriver, or something similar
step 2 Take off the keys!
Unplug your keyboard. I don't think anything bad will happen if you don't, but still. Better safe than sorry.
Take your flathead screwdriver (or similarly shaped tool), and stick it under one of the corners of the key. It helps if you have a part of the screwdriver touching the edge of the "pit" in the keyboard. Cover the area with your hand, so that the key doesn't go flying. Now just push down on the screwdriver, using it kind of like a lever.
Now just repeat it over 100 times for the rest of your keyboard. Make sure that you organize your keys, so that when you put them back, they're in the right spot. I recommend you do 1 section at a time, so there's less to keep track of. If you do manage to mix them up, here's a good image to use to put them back.
step 3 Clean it!
First, take your keyboard to a garbage can, and shake. Let the solid particles fall into the garbage can. Now take a cotton swab, and soak it with the rubbing alcohol. Clean everything out. Rub the key, and then rub the pit. This should dis-infect and clean them both. Now rub the gunk off onto the paper. Don't worry about the alcohol getting inside the keyboard, it evaporates really quickly.
step 4 Stick the keys back in
Now that all the keys are clean, put them back in. Use a moderate amount of force. Make sure that it's aligned properly, and push down. You should feel and hear a loud click of sorts, and it should now work.For the keys with two posts, push in the side with the full post first. Then, push the other side in. Now test the key, and make sure it feels like it should.If your some of your larger keys (like the spacebar, enter, etc.) has a metal bar, this is going to be harder. Make sure the keys to the side of the key aren't on yet. This will make it easier. Now, detach one side of the metal bar. Place the bar in the plastic clips. Now align the post with the well, and stick it in half-way. Now just stick your finger under the side with the un-attached bar, and clip the bar back into the clip on the key. If epoxy is set hard you may now put back the LCD. First take outthe 2 top screws holding the arms to the cover. Put the 2 left & rightside screws into LCD screen. Make sure all the contact points andwebcam, etc are lined up.

Take LCD bezel and flip over. Then cut the 2 clip contact points offwith a razor, smooth to the bezel. If you did grind down the face ofthe bracket against the hinge edge, when you snap the face bezelback it should close back like new or if you didnt you will have a veryunnoticable gap in side, but will be stronger over long term.
Step18
Put the 3 top screws and the 2 bottom screws back into LCDbezel into the laptop casing, then put the 5 rubber sticky padsback on and you are done. Hope it worked out for you.

Mix up a small batch of epoxy. (you must mix the 2 parts thouroughlyand work quickly so it dont set or you will not get the proper bonding strength) Smear a good amount of epoxy onto the hinge at the contactpoints and clamp without throwing off the shape of the hinge. Use about3 to 4 mini clamps. Allow about 10 minutes for the epoxy to set. If youare the patient type let it sit longer,cant hurt.

Now that the epoxy has set remove the clamps on the arm. If you havea center punch mark 2-3 points where you will drill for your pop rivots inthe center of the arm. Push pop rivots from the outside of thehinge arm inwards to LCD.

You will now haveto drill through the back of the hinge out the bracket the small holes forthe original screws to fit. Then bore the front face of the bracket witha 3/16" bit (unless you have the exact size bit for head to recessso the screws will reach through) Go SLOW! DONT over drill, you do notwant to go into the hinge at all!

step 13

Now grind the bracket so it takes shape with the arm also shearingdown the pop rivots smooth on the LCD side of the arm. Then, althoughI didnt do this on mine because I wanted it to have the most strength,you may want to so the face bezel fits completely closed when yousnap it back on later in step 16. Grind down the top edge of the frontface of the bracket to the top of the hinge.

Now you must free the tired hinge. Depending on how far trashed yourtop cover mounting points are. Try to unscrew the 4 little phillips headscrews from the hinge (only 3 if you took out the one that was coveredby the rubber screw cover already) If the screws turn and do not comeloose the mounting points on the LCD cover have cracked so just leavethem in for now.

Push the screen all the way open holding it at the right and left hinges
not to cause any further trauma. If your hinge is to far gone and you
cant move it, you will have to force the hinge with pliers when you remove
it during the next step.

Now try rotating the left hinge asssembly away from the LCD screentowards the closed position. You may need to use pliers on the hinge torotate it because the torque required is significant and is partially thereason your laptop hinge is broken to begin with. Now that it is in thealmost closed position move the pliers to the outside and work the hingeout from the connection point on the base of the unit. It may be tightso keep at it until you pull it free but trying to not break the arm offthe hinge. Remove off the screws and brass inset fasteners and putinto parts container.

Now you need to put a bend on the angle bracket. Use a bench viseif you have one or clamp a vise grip to the egde of the bracket, withanother large pliers start the bend, With a hammer bang the bend flat. This is a critical step! The bend must take shape with the hinge! Dontover bend or you will weaken the strength. Also make sure you bendthe hinge in the right direction!

As you can see my edge was completely separated on the hinge arm. I didnt do this but I recommend that you superglue the join on the armso it will not move and in its original position so when you go to put itback together with the LCD screen it sits correctly in the chassis.Overlay the hinge with your new support bracket. Make marks withblack permanent marker where you need to grind out so it overlaysthe hinge correctly that the bracket sits on top of the hinge. You needto cut the length on the front-face part of the bracket so you dontcover the 3rd hole on the hinge. (I cut it off at the step point on thehinge.) Use either the bench vise or the vise grip to hold bracket andgrid it. I cant express enough how important that you shape and grindthe bracket exactly to the shape of the original hinge. I didnt grindthe arm until I was into the next step.

There are a few steps here that arecritical that they are done correctly or the LCD screen wont fit back into thecase chassis

step 1

You must remove the 3 little rubber screw covers located on the top edgeof the laptop screen at the right, center & left side using the mini flat head screwdriver. Then remove the 3 screws located under the rubber covers.

step 2
Then you must remove the outer screen bezel, which unsnaps. Be verycareful not to force the plastic for it may crack! I would start from theleft hinge corner which is probably open, working clockwise with the littleflat head screwdriver prying it apart every inch or so. You may also haveto remove the bottom right andl eft rubber screw covers and remove those screws as well to free the bezel.

Now that the LCD is fully exposed you can see how destroyed the hingeand assembly points are damaged DUE TO POOR CONSTRUCTION BY THE MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN!

Then you must unscrew the 2 very small screws that are on the left hingeconnecting to the LCD screen. Now take notice how much space is betweenthe bottom of the LCD screen and the left hinge assembly. For this is oneof the things that can make this repair render your efforts useless whenyou try to reassemble! There is only about 1/16" clearance.
